Do Internships Still Matter?

We think so.  The internet has done a lot to change how we learn. We consume differently, we work differently, and we think differently. There is a catch however. Some things still operate the same old way. The more I go down this path I learn that some things just work because of relationships. So what does this have to do with internships? We introduced our products on the viral platform, Kickstarter last summer and shipped products to our first customers around the holidays. We moved into a small space in the ODU Innovation Center and hosted our first trunk show at Bloomingdale’s in New York. We even took home the grand prize at the Virginia Velocity Tour. We’ve made...

Have Heart Do Well: Business X Bettering The World

Last year, a really cool conference for socially conscious companies was brought to my attention. What if different companies and organizations could get together to trade ideas, share insights, and make connections? Well that’s just half of what goes on at The Heart Series. I was delighted to meet the founders of The Heart Series, Gail Cayetano and Megan Sette and to get to catch up with Gail about how they got started. How did The Heart Series come about? What Everybody Ought to Know About Plastic

There are not many places to turn without seeing plastic. It is literally everywhere and unfortunately in our oceans. I took a trip to New York last week where I was invited to be a part of Wildlife Conservation Film Festival’s screening event of A Plastic Ocean in Brooklyn, NY.  Plastic has become such a big part of our lives and we hardly know its effects. Films like Craig Leeson’s were 7 years in the making but are right on time and a big eye opener. One key takeaway after the film was that we are really far away from change but at the same time we are very close. Let me explain.  At the end of the screening...
