HPC Lands California Product Stewardship Council Pilot
We worked with the California Product Stewardship Council on a pilot project to upcycle waste ranging from hard-to-recycle plastics to textiles from the fashion industry. We explored both sorted and unsorted materials.
For companies considering similar initiatives, it’s important to note that there’s a wide spectrum of material quality. Some were brand new with only minor “designer cuts,” while others had been lightly used in production for the entertainment industry and showed slight wear but were otherwise in excellent condition.
In the end, we developed unique and visually interesting patterns that are ideal for upcycling. We transformed the waste into products, and the remaining material is being used for research and development as we plan to scale our material innovation efforts.
